Tim’s Ear

I had been finding blood on Tim’s pillow for more than a year. I thought the blood I was finding was coming from the nosebleeds that Tim often had.

When I saw the blood was behind his ear, I was alarmed. I took a picture of it so Tim could see it too.

We looked up pictures of skin cancer and became convinced that what we were seeing was basal cell carcinoma. Tim is at classic risk for skin cancer. His dad died of melanoma when he was in his early fifties. Tim is, or was, a red head and he had spent years in the sun while commercial fishing.

Alarmed, we contacted friends who advocated natural cures for cancer. We tried all the suggestions. Nothing worked. The bleeding continued.

Neither Tim nor I are people who rush to the doctor. We don’t even have a primary doctor. But after more months of this thing bleeding I suggested that Tim see a doctor to at least find out what we were dealing with. We were concerned that he may have only months to live!

Tim made an appointment with a local dermatologist. She said it was most likely BCC and a biopsy would confirm it.

She performed the biopsy on his ear, and took another one from his back. The test did confirm the cancer behind his ear, but not on his back.

The doctor told him that the site of the biopsy behind his ear would not heal because of the cancer. Another procedure would be necessary. They would remove layers of flesh from behind his ear until they were sure that there were no more cancer cells. She pointed out that the area behind the ear is complicated. He would need a further procedure to take skin from somewhere else in his body to build a skin graft and repair the area behind his ear.

Yikes!

In the meantime Tim did some research on cancer and biopsies. No good news there. Because of the BCC Tim had concern about prostate cancer, too. Everything he learned about the risks of biopsies convinced him he did not want to get a biopsy to figure out if he had prostate cancer.

We continued to pray for wisdom.

A friend of ours in our fellowship group told us about someone she had met who was curing skin cancer with colloidal silver. We called him. He asked us to come see him immediately.

He put a paste on Tim’s ear that is made from the residue of the colloidal silver making process. He told Tim that the paste would form into a scab. In about a week, he said, the scab would fall off and the cancer would be healed. Here is the photo documentary of what happened.
